This one focuses on his background, the company’s background, and the development platform and tools used by the EE crew (they’re big Mac fans, not surprisingly). There’s a bit of talk about open source tools and a lot of focus on Mac- cause hey, it IS a Mac site!

Status?

Just wondering what the status of the module is at the moment?

Haven’t migrated over to it from the plugin yet for a couple of reasons, but I was reminded today of why moving would be a good idea when the darn plugin managed to slow my whole site to a crawl.

Expression Engine (EE) is one of the best blog and CMS software around.

A flattering review of EE 1.3.1, this article gives and overview of the pros and cons of ExpressionEngine. Of the good? Functionality, ease of customization, docs, development cycle and support. Of the bad? The interface can be a bit clunky and trackback spam hasn’t been addressed as well as comment spam has. (True enough- but under improvement.) This is a good, quick rundown of EE at the time it was done.

Error ‘Undefined index’

When I browsed through my error logs to check for another problem, I came across this error on a few occasions that appears to be related to the module:

[client 81.224.211.79] PHP Notice: Undefined index: Item in //modules/eez_amazon/mod.eez_amazon.php on line 321

Also, this one showed up once:

Some questions.

Oops, missed that a new version came out while I was on vacation.

Playing with it now, and a couple of questions have come up:

1) Is ‘locale’ now a variable that can be used in the exp:eez_amazon:detail tag, to indicate which ID that should be pulled from the array?

2) Is it possible to tweak the link generated by the {amazon_link} variable to use ref=nosim to go straight to the main page for a book?

As an example, links generated by the old plugin would look like this:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/<ISBN>/<ID>/ref=nosim/

whereas the module links look like this (err, with some encoding weirdness due to percentage signs in there):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ASIN=<ISBN>&tag=<ID>&lcode=xm2&cID=2025&ccmID=165953&location=/o/ASIN/<ISBN>%3FSubscriptionId=1F9MP7F50K45NNPVYR82

Not sure what all the elements of the link do, but it seems like it might be possible to compress it some?

3) What’s $KeyId? The developer’s token, or whatever they call it these days?

I get this using the pop up, irregularly or I thought maybe when I got no results ?

Also this is happening quite a bit too. Is the updated extension included in the original download?
